Who runs this site
afshana.com is the personal website of Afshana Diya, based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. When this page says "I" or "me," it means me. For any question about your data or my content, write to hello@afshana.com.
What I collect and why
When you send a message. The contact form asks for your name, email, a topic and your message. It is saved in my website dashboard and sent to my inbox so I can reply. I use it only for that conversation.
When you book a call. Booking runs on Google Calendar appointment scheduling. The details you enter there go to Google and to my calendar, and Google handles them under its own privacy policy.
When you read the site. I use Google Analytics through Google Site Kit to see which pages people read, roughly where they are reading from, what device they use and how they found the site. This uses cookies. I look at the totals to decide what to write next. I do not use it to identify you.
To keep the site running. My hosting and security providers keep short technical logs, such as IP address and browser type, to block spam and attacks.
What I never do
I do not sell, rent or trade your information. I do not run ads on this site and I do not add you to any mailing list unless you ask me to.
Cookies
The only cookies on this site come from Google Analytics and the basic ones WordPress needs to work. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or install Google's Analytics opt-out add-on. The site works the same either way.
Links and embedded content
Posts link to other websites and may show embedded content such as videos or maps. Those sites have their own privacy rules and may collect data when you visit them or play their content.
How long I keep it and your choices
I keep messages as long as the conversation is useful, then clear them out. You can ask me at any time to show you what I have, correct it or delete it, and I will do it within 30 days. If you live in the EU or the UK, these are also your rights under the GDPR.
This site is not meant for children under 13 and I do not knowingly collect their information.
My content and photos
Everything on afshana.com, including my writing, photos, videos, the logo and the design, belongs to me unless it says otherwise.
Using any of my content or pictures without my written permission is prohibited. That includes copying or republishing posts, editing or reposting my photos, using them in ads, products or presentations and using them to train AI models.
You are welcome to share a link to any page or quote a few lines with credit and a link back. Event organizers may use the headshots and bios in my speaker kit to promote an event I am part of. For anything else, ask me first at hello@afshana.com.
Changes to this page
If I change how the site handles data, I will update this page and the date at the top.
